How One Injection Throws Everything Off Balance

                                                    Fibromyalgia and Hormones

Living with fibromyalgia already feels like a never-ending balancing act — between pain, energy, emotions, and simply getting through the day. But when you add hormones to the mix? It’s like trying to walk a tightrope during a windstorm.

I’ve been getting an injection every second month to prevent pregnancy. It’s something I chose for my own reasons, but honestly, every time I get it, I feel like my body doesn’t know what to do with itself. My symptoms flare up. My emotions go from 0 to 100 in seconds. I get irritable, moody, foggy, and drained. My sleep patterns change. My anxiety creeps in louder than usual. My pain feels sharper. And it’s frustrating because I already fight hard just to function.

I wish more people understood how hormones can trigger chaos in a body that’s already hypersensitive. It’s not just “PMS” or “normal side effects” for some of us — it’s a full-body storm that leaves us feeling completely off balance.

I’m sharing this because if you’re someone with fibromyalgia who’s struggling with hormonal treatments (like the injection, the pill, or anything else), you’re not alone. You’re not imagining it. Your body is valid in the way it reacts — even if doctors brush it off or people around you don’t understand.

Take a breath. Track your symptoms. Be gentle with yourself. And if you need to switch up your birth control or find a better fit for your body, speak up. You deserve to feel as stable as possible in a body that already gives you enough to handle.

Here’s to riding the wave — one flare, one hormone swing, one brave step at a time. 💜
